Image Color Picker: what to know
The image color picker reads the exact color of any pixel in an image. Open a photo, screenshot or logo, then click on it: the tool shows that pixel's hex, RGB, HSL and other codes, plus a zoomed view so you can aim at a single pixel. Your picks are kept in a list for copying.
The image is opened by your browser and read on your device with the canvas API. Nothing is uploaded or stored, so you can pick colors from confidential mockups and private photos.
Pixels in photos vary more than they look: shading, noise and JPEG compression mean neighbors can differ by a few values. For a reliable color, pick from a flat, evenly lit area, or use a screenshot or PNG of a logo, which store exact colors.
Popular uses
- Finding the hex code of a color in a logo or screenshot
- Matching a website's colors to a product photo
- Sampling skin, sky or fabric tones for illustration
- Checking which exact colors a competitor's design uses
Tips for the best result
- Zoom in before clicking so you pick the pixel you meant.
- Screenshots of flat UI give exact colors; photos give approximations.
- Pick several points and compare them to find a representative color.
