About pastel palettes

Pastel colors are high in lightness and low to medium in saturation: think of a pure hue mixed with plenty of white. That softness makes pastels feel gentle, friendly and calm, which is why they're popular for baby and wedding products, beauty brands, spring campaigns and illustration.

Because pastels are all light, they don't have much contrast with each other or with white. Use them for backgrounds, cards, tags and illustrations, and pair them with a dark text color (a deep navy, charcoal or a dark shade of one of the pastels) so words stay readable. One slightly stronger accent helps buttons stand out.
